Aviation Club & Space Society is a non-profit created by Andrea Elaine Pearson-Haas, Matt Engel, and Anh Nhat Nguyen (Sokol Kuznetsov) who met at Alpha Charlie, an Aviation Club founded by Matt Engel at the University of Texas at Dallas.
Newest members to the team are open and available for filling duties.
Matt Engel served as the founding and first President of Alpha Charlie with Paul Oelkrug our past Adviser and is taking a break from school to focus only on his Commercial Rating Pilot's license for a semester or two. Jahan Rabii, who was handpicked by Matt, preceded him in Presidency as our second President of Alpha Charlie, and he came to UTD from UT Austin and returned to there after serving. Andrea Elaine Pearson-Haas [email protected] serves as the current President with adviser Dr. Thomas Allen [email protected]. Her role as an educator is for an open format of Aerospace Engineering at UTD whenever there is free time that is open to all students who are interested, we are using Dava Newman's flight course and other materials from AOPA summit and Spaceprincess.org.
When Andrea is not at UTD, she is either working or doing her research at UTSouthwestern, where she started before enrolling in UTD, or with NASA most likely or a commercial partner. The Aviation Club & Space Society has hosted AIAA to form a chapter on campus where she serves as an educator. Her vice president has been Tarang Brahme [email protected], who has been leading the way under her guidance for the UTD-AIAA that works with UTA-AIAA in which she has already been a student before she became an educator. Anirudh Krishnan, has served as secretary, [email protected] and is also working to establish the chapter under Dr. Spong's approval and support, Jerry Alexander's assistance, and Turaj Ashuri service as a faculty advisor. Pranab Tahbildar, Craig Hartnell, Sanath Patil, Shantanu Kadlaskar, Sharan Mohan, Mithlesh Ragendra Kumar, Vallabh Joshi, and Seth Abramczyk are new students to name a few.
As the Aviation Club at the University of Texas at Dallas, we benefit the school by bringing the aviation community, corporate sponsorship, retired aviators, active duty or current career pilots, new wings, higher rated wings, and the pilot-mindset to our campus. Friends of airlines & space industry alike, we represent our school and our interest group through the Aviation Club and Space Society gathering to talk about the future of such together and how we can work as a team for leisure, academics and/or research.
We are constantly looking to improve ourselves and give current updates on our members activities that benefit our group as a whole while recognizing the individual for their contributions by flying together whenever possible and encouraging the education, academic, and achievement of every member.
